In August 2021, the Killick Team lead the Africa Centre Board and leadership team through a two day strategic thinking exercise. It was a lovely opportunity to learn about the important work of the Africa Centre and about the many countries and cultures accounted for in the room. Thank-you to Africa Centre for sharing this video with Killick Leadership.

Strategy and Leadership

Killick Leadership Group lead our team through a strategic thinking process in preparation for taking on a large project.
We were able to identify where our team brings the most value to Western Diversification and clarify where we needed to focus time and resources. Killick Leadership developed a custom process for us and facilitated five workshops online. Their use of the technology available was well done and adjustments were made to maximize our experience. The final reporting was extensive and setup to be useful in our daily work. I would highly recommend Killick for organizations looking for strategic clarity and pragmatic tools.
Ryan Dunford Director General, Policy, Planning and Analytics Prairies Economic Development Canada

The Executive Board at SouthGrow Regional Initiative realized that after three years we needed to revisit our strategic plan to adjust for several areas that had changed focus and importance.
We knew we needed to engage our entire board, made up of elected officials from each of our 28 partner municipalities, and we were going to have to do it during a period of pandemic restrictions. From a shortlist of consultants, we chose Killick based on Cathy’s experience with the REDA system and the reputation of the organization. Cathy suggested breaking our board up into three groups with each meeting on successive evenings via Zoom, and that’s what we did. The results were amazing. With small groups Cathy was able to get everyone talking and involved and we made tremendous progress. The resulting input enabled Cathy and her group to draft a strategic plan that covers the new reality we find ourselves working with. Participant feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and the sense of collaboration that was generated has made our organization stronger and given us a renewed sense of purpose. I would not hesitate to recommend the Killick Group for any group wanting guidance in forming or revising and updating a strategic plan.

Cathy Goulet from Killick Leadership was a great asset to all of Council and Administration in helping achieve Smoky Lake County’s new direction for the upcoming years.
Several sessions were held, the leadership, style and professionalism of Killick Leadership was much appreciated by all who attended. This refreshing collaborative style has given us a great new direction for our county.
Reeve Craig Lukinuk, Smoky Lake County

Aklavik Indian Band engaged Killick Leadership Group to deliver four governance workshops in October 2019.
The workshops covered financial stewardship, roles and responsibilities, meeting effectiveness and conflict resolution. The facilitator, Cathy Goulet, is an engaging and skilled trainer and connected well with our participants. She was able to shift gears quickly and respond to interests around the table. Overall, a professional and positive experience. AIB will be engaging Killick again for ongoing development work.
Lloyd Petrie CEO, Aklavik Indian Band

Inuvik Native Band has been more than pleased and satisfied to have engaged with the knowledge, expertise and wisdom of Cathy Goulet and her business, Killick Leadership Group.
We met three years ago at a INAC sponsored event in Yellowknife, I liked her style and persona, we spoke, made arrangements for further work, and we have blossomed from there. Cathy and her team are a diverse and very capable crew, their work is outstanding and very expertly delivered. We have been more than satisfied with their work and we continue to engage Cathy and her team on the growing variety or projects with we create to achieve the growth and direction that this First Nation Band needs. The vast array of skills, knowledge and expertise that comprises her team is invaluable and such a great support to have as we continue to re-establish and develop our organization. I highly recommend her and her team to others.

The Tofield and Area Health Foundation is very pleased with our new website tofieldhealthfoundation.ca, written and designed for us by Killick Leadership.
The Killick Team helped identify our key messages, wrote and edited our content and designed and launched the website. We could not be happier with the final product and the working relationship we had with the team. As a volunteer board, sometimes it took time to provide feedback, but Cathy, Bobbi and Mandeep were very supportive. Thanks for a great experience and an engaging website. Clearly you guys are pros!

The Northern Alberta Business Incubator (NABI) engaged Killick Leadership to act as an interim operations team to steer NABI through a change in leadership.
The engagement lasted six months and in that time, they undertook a complete review of NABI’s operations, while providing executive leadership. The engagement was very successful and has afforded NABI access to the Killick team of experienced and recognized professionals, which effectively expanded our management team in the areas of onsite management, strategic direction, marketing and communications, financial systems, IT systems, HR and coaching. They worked seamlessly with our staff and board, quickly gaining trust in their expertise and commitment. I would strongly recommend similar organizations to NABI to consider engaging Killick for strategic and operational reviews and adding capacity to their leadership teams.

The Economic & Community Development Committee and the County of Barrhead found a tremendous value in Cathy’s methods of approaching citizen engagement and collaboration for our project.
It led to building stronger relations with our stakeholders, and invited new voices to the table. Members of the community, land owners, the Chamber of Commerce and Council were all very pleased at how the collaborative efforts paid off in the final report. As well, Cathy was very professional, quickly accessible throughout the project, punctual in meeting progress timeframes (even though they were tight), kept to budget, and gave us excellent reporting and moving forward actions. A very positive experience!

Cathy I could not be more pleased, to have met you and continue to work with you and your company.
I have talked with you and heard you speak often, in my roles; first as the Viking Community Recreation Director and now in my current role as Economic Development Officer.
Cathy you have been such a resource, around your knowledge, your professional connections and (current and past) project scope understandings. I see such opportunity for my community and area working with you. You have a sincere ear and point of view, which grounds me and sets direction.
The EDO role is new for the Town of Viking and as I continue to network; Killick Leadership will continue to be my first contact, as I look to develop projects and opportunities for our areas.

Speaking Engagements

As the keynote speaker for the Central Alberta Economic Partnership’s fall general meeting, Cathy Goulet was engaging and energetic.
Kimberly Worthington Executive Director CAEP

Cathy Goulet did an admirable job moderating the federal election all-candidate forum for Lakeland Riding in October 2015 at St. Michael.
She was able to maintain control of the program throughout the evening, deflecting confrontative statements towards the candidates. I would highly recommend her for similar facilitation opportunities.
